Bookshare and Maine Schools

Bookshare is a free service that provides textbooks and core instructional materials in digital text format for students with qualifying print disabilities. Assistive technology tools for reading Bookshare materials are also available at no cost to members. The presenters of this webinar will explain the qualification requirements for Bookshare, and the process of establishing organizational and individual memberships. A demonstration of how to download a book and use it with assistive technology will also be provided.

During this webinar there is reference to the viewing of a DVD entitled "AIMing for Achievement" produced in 2010 by the National Center on Accessible Instructional Materials. Copies of this DVD were distributed to the special education directors in each school district in Maine in spring 2011. Please contact your special education department to acquire that DVD. If you do not have access to the DVD, you may order a copy here.
